3 poles - 2 2nd's and 1 win = great day at the track!

Jordan and I ran in the King of the Clones race at Liberty Raceway Park this past Saturday. Practice went ok then qualifying was great! Jordan had the pole in Medium, I got the pole in amateur, then Jordan also got the pole in heavy. That was our first time getting the pole in all of our classes!! :) Medium went well for Jordan but (Mr.) Chavis pulled away and left Jordan 2nd. I went out with (Mrs.) Chavis in my class. We ran 12 laps since there were only two of us and Since I won, others in the class can buy the motor...so... the Chavis' bought back the motor that we bought from them last race. . Then Jordan ran heavy with the same results. (mr.) Chavis won and Jordan finished 2nd. It was a great night and we had fun and maybe...we can buy the motor back next time..well nevermind. we would rather win then have the opportunity to buy the motor back LOL!

Chattanooooooga!

This past weekend Jordan and I head to Chattanooga to visit my best friend Whitney! We left Thursday after lunch and returned on Sunday afternoon. Our trip there was a bit strange. We went from NC to SC to GA back to NC then FINALLY TN! At least we made it safely :) We had a hotel room for Thursday and Friday and stayed with Whitney on Saturday night. Friday morning we got up and ready and set out to find a McDonald's for breakfast. I have never NOT been able to find a McDonald's. The only fast food we could find for breakfast was a Bojangles so we grabbed a bite to eat and headed up the mountain to ROCK CITY. Basically it was a garden of rocks with a few flowers and a Spectacular view of 7 states! I really enjoyed this place but was irritated with the immature middle school/teenagers that were EVERYWHERE! I wanted to stop and take pictures and enjoy my time but they wouldn't allow it. It was still my favorite "attraction" of the day I believe. Next we headed on to RUBY FALLS. We had a tour guide that took us down this elevator into the side of a mountain and then we walked about a mile underground to the awesome waterfall. I enjoyed this attraction but was upset that they only keep the lights on so you can see the waterfall for like 5 minutes then you have to go back out. Our final attraction on the triple play ticket was the incline railway. I was not excited about this nor did I enjoy it that much. The incline railway is the worlds steepest incline railway at 72% incline on a mile long track. Of course it isn't that steep until about halfway up the mountain. I was scared to death when we got to the top that the cable would break and we would go speeding down the hill and end up at the bottom going across the road and crashing into the building in front of us. We made it safely to the top and went in the gift shop, checked out the observation deck, then climbed aboard for the ride back down the mountain. Needless to say, we made it back down safely. I wasn't very impressed with a mile ride up, gift shop, observation deck, and a mile ride back down. O well! I can say I have been there and done that.
After our triple play attractions, we headed downtown to walk around and explore the city. We met up with Whitney for supper at the Genghis Grill. AMAZING! You pick out your veggies, meat and even your sauce and starch then hadn't it to them to cook. It was sooooo good! After supper Whitney showed us around a little then we headed back to the hotel.
Saturday morning was breakfast at the Cracker Barrel with Whitney then while she was at work we went to the other side of the city, I believe its called North Shore. Took more pictures, IN THE RAIN, then met back with Whitney for supper again at the Genghis Grill. Jordan wanted it again and since it was soooo good I was totally cool with that. We didn't do much after supper. We went back to Whitney's apartment since we didn't have a hotel for that night, rented a movie, watched it, and went to bed. We didn't sleep well that night but its OK. Up about 7:30 and hit the road! We stopped at a huge flea market and the Tanger outlet then back to Mom and Dads to pick up the children, our dogs that is. Roxie, Chase and Bandit were happy to see us and we were happy to see them. We missed them!
Our trip had ended and Jordan and I had a great time together! I will post a few pics of our trip later on...

a few more weekend pics...

Free weekend!

A little about our weekend...Friday we worked then went to Matt & Emily's engagement party then watched the Nationwide race. Saturday, an actual Saturday without racing. Not that I dont prefer to be racing of course but it was nice to have time to relax and get a little spring cleaning finished. Saturday we cleaned all day and took MawMaw and PawPaw out to eat at Rancho. This was for PawPaws late Birthday present. We had a great supper then to Walmart for groceries. Sunday we went to Sunday School and Preaching then to town to Platos Closet and LongHorn. We got back home for a nap and then to the barn. I had to give Eyeda a bath and Jordan went to help. Jordan decided to leave the gate open so we chased Eyeda around for 20 minutes. GRR!! Chasing a loose horse is not fun! Anyways, we finally got the halter on her and brushed her down real good and gave her a bath. It was so pretty outside so I didnt mind taking a little longer to get her clean. We visted with Mom and Dad for a few minutes then headed home. I made Chicken Al-La King for Bubba then washed the dishes. After supper we watched Blindside and I cleaned the living room. Wow, I havent been in a cleaning mood in a long time but im glad I was because I like a clean house...I just dont like to clean it ;) Last episode of Madhouse at 11 then bedtime and up early for the work week!

Easter Weekend

So Im a little behind....But catching up now! We had a great week last week. Bubba called me on Wednesday and asked me to take off Thursday so he could take me to the beach! Up at 6 on Thursday and to Myrtle Beach for the night. We went shopping, laid by the pool went to the arcade and walked on the beach. We had a great time! Friday morning we had breakfast at our usual Spring House then headed to Dillon, SC for open UARA practice. Since Jordan is helping out with Dad's team (Robert Johnson) he was busy all day and I took pictures most of the day. The Johnsons took us out to eat Friday, we got rested up then back to the track on Saturday morning. Robert qualified 11th and ran about 9-11 in the race until about 50 to go, then, he got wrecked. I was asked to take victory lane photos but as soon as that was over we loaded up and headed out. We made it back to the house about 12:30 Easter Morning. Up for church, took some pictures of my cousins(Jordan, Chad and Ashton) then Mawmaw and Pawpaws for Easter lunch. we hunted eggs and visited with everyone then to Jordans parents and grandparents for a while.
Monday was back to work then Justin, Brandi and Lexie came over to visit.
Tuesday, work again and my first night of photography class with Mary Elizabethh at the Sawtooth Center. I learned alot and am lookikng forward to the classes coming up.
Today, work and Kara's Baby Shower for little Lilah Maryanne! I made punch and helped some with the shower but of course taking pictures was my job and i had a blast with it. I will have some pictures posted from this weekend and the week up till now.

2010 Racing Season - race #1 Liberty Raceway Park-King of Clones series

Saturday was our first race of the season as well as the first race in the King of Clones series at liberty raceway park. The morning started off a little chilly but quickly warmed up. We made it to the track around 11 to unload and get ready for practice at 12-of course at liberty that means practice wasn't until 1 because they are always behind..anyways, ill stop there because I could continue with complaints. Mitchell and Nikki also came to I've us some help and support!
Practice went well for me. I went out in our first round practice with the cones up and that went well. Lap times aren't really that important at that point since the cones were up. Jordan went out for a couple practices to make sure everything was set-up and handling good for the night. His practices went well also.
Dad and Paw Paw made it out to watch about time for qualifying and were a big help to us all day!
Qualifying finally came around and I was sure I would do well but the kart was too loose which gave me a pretty horrible qualifying run. I qualified 3rd, unfortunately, there were only 3 of us! I was so disappointed because I haven't qualified that bad in a LONG time! I was half a second off! Anyways...Jordan went out and had 2 decent runs, 5th for medium and 6th for heavy.
Since we are running the Clone series, we had to wait around for the local points series to finish up their races. Jordan was the first class of with the Medium Clones, he did well, got tangled up and his chain fell off which put him in the back under caution. He did great and came back up to finish 5th. In these clone races there is a claim rule that allows the top 5 or so to buy the motor from the winner for $225, or $325 depending on much of the "accessories" you want to purchase. at liberty, 5th place has the first option to buy the winners motor(besides the track of course which ...again, i wont get in to that) So the track bought the motor but was nice enough to sell it to Jordan. Because Chavis (that's whose motor we bought) had other classes to run he was allowed to use it for the remainder of the night. After Medium with Jordan we had to rush to get the kart ready for my class, amateur. Thankfully Dad and Mitchell were there to help. As I said before I had a horrible qualifying run but that didn't slow me down in the race. We took the green flag and I was second immediately but the caution came out because it wasn't a great start. Again we took the green flag and I was right back in second. It took me about 3 laps or so to set up my pass to first. I wanted to make sure I had it set up perfectly so as not to upset the kart or spin myself out. I led the remainder of the race and took the win by a straightaway! Great way to start off the season! Again, we were rushing to get the kart ready for Jordans race. He made it in time and started 6th. Once again he had a great run as well and ended up 5th. There were more karts in his class of course so 5th is a good finish! Everyone rushed to buy Chavis' motor because he put a straightaway on the field as well but, SORRY! Its already sold :) to Jordan! Anyways, we had a great night and came away with a win and two 5ths, as well as a new motor. I should have walked away with a 2010 King of Clones trophy but again...the track wasn't prepared and only had 2009 trophies. They are supposed to have it ready for me next time. I hope I actually get a current one when i go back. (My class is $10 trophy class/no money paid out unless a special money race)
All and all it was a good day. We were safe and had a good time and good finishes...i cant wait to go back but it looks like Ill be waiting a while. Our next King of Clones race is May 1st but its possible we may not be able to resist the racing urge and head to Coleridge Speedway on April 10th. ill post a few pictures later on!
